Rand Paul Inspects Fort Knox Gold, Criticizes Dollar's Decline Since 1913
Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) recently visited Fort Knox to inspect the U.S. gold reserves, expressing concerns about the declining purchasing power of the dollar. Paul highlighted that Fort Knox holds approximately 147 million ounces of gold, which constitutes half of the U.S. gold reserve. He emphasized that since the dollar was decoupled from gold in 1971, it has lost about 85% of its value. Paul attributed the current affordability crisis to inflation, driven by Congress's unchecked spending and the Federal Reserve's monetary policies. He noted that the dollar has lost 97% of its purchasing power since the Federal Reserve's establishment in 1913, equating $100 in 1913 to $3,300 today.
