Ohanaeze Ndigbo Announces 2026 Igbo Day Celebration in Abia State, Emphasizing Unity
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Igbo people, has unveiled its plans for the 2026 Igbo Day celebration, scheduled for September 28th and 29th in Umuahia, Abia State. The theme for this year's event is "Njiko Ka," meaning "togetherness is best," underscoring the organization's call for greater unity, cooperation, and strategic engagement among Ndigbo both within Nigeria and in the diaspora. Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, Global Policy Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, stated that the celebration will provide an opportunity for Igbos to reflect on their history, assess their current circumstances, and plan for their collective future, thereby strengthening their identity and shared purpose. Activities will include a public lecture titled "Igbo Charter of Strategic Engagement for National Development," delivered by Professor Kingsley Moghalu, and a facility tour of projects executed by the Abia State Government.
