NOAA Predicts Warm Fall and Potentially 'Very Strong' El Niño Winter
The NOAA Climate Prediction Center has released its latest seasonal outlook, forecasting above-normal temperatures across most of the United States from August through October. The strongest warm signals are expected in the Northwest, southwestern Texas, and parts of the Southeast. Additionally, there is an 81 percent chance that El Niño will strengthen to a 'very strong' category between October and December. This development could significantly alter winter storm tracks, precipitation, and snowfall patterns. While El Niño's intensity does not guarantee specific weather outcomes, it is likely to bring increased rain and snow to the southern U.S. and reduced snowfall to areas like the Great Lakes and northern Rockies. The north-central U.S. and Central Plains have equal chances of above-, near-, or below-normal temperatures during the fall season.
