Massive 75-Vehicle Pileup on Colorado Highway Amid Hazardous Winter Weather
A significant traffic incident occurred on a Colorado highway, involving at least 75 vehicles in a chain-reaction pileup. The crashes took place in the Rocky Mountains west of Denver, near Loveland Ski Area, primarily affecting Interstate 70 eastbound near mile marker 216. Earlier in the day, six separate crashes were reported, mostly along the same highway, with some involving single vehicles and others multi-vehicle collisions. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CODOT) has shut down both lanes of the highway due to the severity of the crash, and drivers approaching the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel are being turned around. The snowy conditions have contributed to hazardous driving conditions in the mountain corridor, exacerbating the situation.
