Animal Activists Attempt Raid on Wisconsin Beagle Breeding Facility, Met with Police Resistance
On April 18, 2026, a group of animal activists attempted to raid Ridglan Farms, a beagle breeding facility in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. The facility, which breeds beagles for medical and scientific testing, has been the subject of controversy due to allegations of animal cruelty. During the raid, approximately 400 activists tried to break into the property, leading to a chaotic scene. The Dane County Sheriff's Office reported that activists used ladders and break-in tools, and a pickup truck was driven through the front gate. The facility had increased its security measures, including hay bales and additional fencing. Despite the activists' efforts, no dogs were removed from the facility. The raid follows a previous incident in March where activists successfully removed 23 dogs. Ridglan Farms has agreed to surrender its state breeding license by July 1, 2026, as part of a settlement to avoid prosecution for animal mistreatment.
