City of Charleston Issues Flash Flood Warning, Urges Residents to Stay Off Roads
The City of Charleston, South Carolina, has issued a Flash Flood Warning for downtown areas, urging residents and visitors to stay off the roads. The National Weather Service reported that between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible, leading to significant flooding across downtown and other parts of the city. The Charleston Fire Department has responded to nine submerged vehicles, and two high-water vehicles have been deployed. Multiple road closures are in effect, and the city emphasizes the "Turn Around, Don’t Drown" message, warning that water can be deeper than it appears and can stall vehicles. Residents are also advised not to drive around barricades, as roads are closed for safety reasons.
