Oregon Department of Emergency Management Launches Webinars to Aid Rural Disaster Preparedness
The Oregon Department of Emergency Management is organizing a series of free webinars aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and response in rural communities. The initiative, titled 'Rural Communities Prepared for Disasters,' consists of two sessions. The first session, scheduled for April 22, will focus on disaster impacts on communication systems, evacuation protocols, and backup power options. The second session, set for May 13, will address disaster recovery funding, processes, and the role of long-term recovery groups. Kayla Thompson, the community preparedness coordinator, emphasized the importance of equipping communities with information and connections before disasters occur. The webinars will feature disaster response experts who will provide tailored tools and resources for rural Oregonians.
