Driver Arrested for DUI After Semitruck Overturns, Spilling Sunflower Seeds Near Ash Fork
A semitruck driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after his vehicle, carrying organic sunflower seeds, overturned on Interstate 40 near Ash Fork, Arizona, early Saturday. First responders from the Ash Fork Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene following an iPhone crash alert. The driver, the sole occupant, was found unharmed outside the truck. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The overturned truck resulted in sheared fuel lines, causing a leak onto the ground alongside spilled boxes of sunflower seeds. Crews took measures to contain the fuel spill by clamping the damaged lines and deploying absorbent material, as they could not safely access the battery or ignition to turn off the vehicle. The driver claimed another car cut into his lane, braked suddenly, and forced him to swerve off the road, leading to the rollover.
