Air India Flight AI2379 Incident Under Investigation Following Triple Hydraulic Failure and Pilot's Non-Negative Test Result
India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has released a preliminary report concerning Air India flight AI2379, an Airbus A320-251N, which experienced a near-simultaneous loss of all three hydraulic systems at 36,000 feet on August 4. The incident, which occurred during a flight from Phuket to Delhi, led to the autopilot disconnecting, a stall warning, and the aircraft deviating hundreds of feet from its assigned level. Twenty-four people, including passengers and cabin crew, sustained injuries, with four requiring hospitalization. The report also highlights a 'non-negative' result from a psychoactive substances test for the captain. The AAIB is currently working to reconstruct the causal chain of events, having collected Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR) data, Air Traffic Control (ATC) records, and fuel samples. Air India has stated its full cooperation with the investigation and has initiated voluntary testing for all its pilots.
