UN Tourism Promotes Innovation in Marrakech with Startup Competition
The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) has emphasized innovation and investment as key components of a sustainable tourism sector. This focus was highlighted at the International Conference on Technological Innovation and Tourism Investments in Marrakech, Morocco. The event brought together leaders from tourism, investment, and technology sectors to discuss the future of tourism. During the conference, the winners of the National Start-up Competition were announced, recognizing startups that excel in digital tourism, leisure gaming, and Moroccan gastronomy. The overall winner, Beyond the Map, was praised for its use of augmented reality to enhance cultural heritage experiences. Additionally, UN Tourism launched the Morocco National UN Tourism Startup Competition: Rural & Community Tourism Innovation Challenge, aimed at supporting startups that promote rural and community-based tourism.
