MSC Boxship Sinks Deeper Off Zhoushan After Failed Refloating Efforts
The MSC Silvana VIII, a large containership, has sunk deeper into the waters off Zhoushan after unsuccessful attempts to refloat it. The vessel, which grounded during Typhoon Bavi, has seen its stern submerged, with several cargo holds and the engine room flooded. Salvage operations are complicated by another incoming typhoon, and the cause of the grounding remains unclear. MSC has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident.
