Six-Year-Old Matias Overcomes Cancer and Spinal Cord Injury with Determination
Matias, a six-year-old from Baltimore, has demonstrated remarkable resilience in overcoming neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer, and a subsequent spinal cord injury. Diagnosed as a baby, Matias's parents, Rachel Osborn and Jason Kling, noticed unexplained symptoms for weeks before receiving the devastating diagnosis. A tumor pressing against his spinal cord led to surgery and chemotherapy. Following the tumor removal, Matias experienced paralysis from the waist down. Despite these challenges, he has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation at the Kennedy Krieger Institute since he was approximately 18 months old.
