Israel Air Force Investigates Hezbollah Drone Attack on Medical Evacuation Helicopter
The Israel Air Force (IAF) has completed a preliminary investigation into an incident in southern Lebanon where Hezbollah targeted an IAF helicopter with a drone. The helicopter, a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk variant known as the 'Owl,' was conducting a medical evacuation when the attack occurred. Sgt. Idan Fooks was killed, and six others were wounded during the incident. The IAF dispatched two helicopters to evacuate the casualties, with the first helicopter taking off within 34 seconds. The second helicopter, which landed shortly after, was targeted by an explosive drone, prompting the pilots to take off immediately without the commander's approval. The helicopter later landed at a safe site to inspect for damage, but none was found.
