Wilkes-Barre Township Increases Property Tax Revenue; Police Chief Announces Retirement
Wilkes-Barre Township is set to see a significant increase in property tax revenue following a reassessment of the former Wilkes-Barre Township High School, now a senior apartment complex. The property's assessed value was raised from $1,066,800 to $3,493,000, resulting in an annual tax increase of $10,973. Additionally, Police Chief Will Clark announced his retirement effective January 1, 2027, after 34 years of service. Mayor Carl Kuren plans to appoint Detective LeeAnn Reh as the new chief. These developments were discussed at the township council meeting.
