Opa-locka Mother Arrested for Armed Robbery, Child Abuse After Using Daughter as Getaway Driver
Aviouse Lucas, a 41-year-old woman from Opa-locka, Florida, has been arrested and faces charges of armed robbery, child abuse, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to Opa-locka police, Lucas entered an Advance Auto Parts store at 13400 NW 27th Ave. on Wednesday afternoon, took several items without paying, and then left the premises. When confronted by a store employee, Lucas allegedly placed her hand inside her clothing, implying she had a gun, and threatened to shoot. Following this, Lucas entered her BMW, where her two children, aged 4 and 13, were present. Her 13-year-old daughter was reportedly driving the vehicle and drove her mother away from the scene. Authorities were able to locate Lucas and her vehicle at her home on Northwest 142nd Lane after the employee provided vehicle and license plate information. Lucas later admitted to the robbery, having her children in the car, and using her 13-year-old daughter as the getaway driver.
