Arizona Wildfires Burn Over 30,000 Acres Across Seven Counties
Arizona is currently experiencing active wildfire conditions, with 10 fires burning across seven counties, affecting a total of 30,969 acres. The average containment rate for these fires is 55%, according to the latest data from NIFC WFIGS (Source time: Mon, 31 Aug 2026 23:00:00 GMT). The largest fires include the Pocket Fire in Yavapai County, which has burned 27,393 acres and is 95% contained, and the Island Fire in La Paz County, which has burned 3,218 acres but is only 15% contained. Smaller fires, such as the Brandenburg Fire in Pinal County and the Cliff Spring Fire in Coconino County, remain uncontained. Arizona's wildfire season typically peaks before the summer monsoon, with fires spreading rapidly across desert grasslands and ponderosa pine forests.
