Texas Prepares for Severe Storms with Emergency Crews Activated
Governor Greg Abbott has activated emergency response teams across Texas in anticipation of severe storms expected to impact the state on Sunday and Monday. According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texas Division of Emergency Management has mobilized resources, including search and rescue teams, helicopters, and ambulances, to address potential hazards. The storms are forecasted to bring flash flooding, tornadoes, winds exceeding 75 mph, and hail larger than 2 inches. Areas of concern include West, North, East, Central, and South Central Texas, with potential impacts extending to South and Southeast Texas as the system moves toward the coast. In Houston, the storms are expected to weaken but may still produce hail and damaging winds, with a 50% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms between 11 p.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday.
