Study Highlights Need for Standardized Reporting of Solar Fire Incidents in Europe
A recent study has revealed significant discrepancies in the reporting of photovoltaic (PV) fire incidents across Europe, highlighting the need for standardized reporting to accurately assess risks and improve safety standards. The study, which analyzed national fire statistics from the UK, Italy, Sweden, and Slovenia, found that variations in reported PV-related fire rates are largely due to differences in how incidents are recorded. This inconsistency complicates efforts to improve safety as the European Union pushes for more widespread installation of solar PV systems on buildings by 2030. The study also found that many smaller incidents go unrecorded, suggesting that official statistics may underestimate the true scale of PV-related fire events.
