Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Announces $300 Million Agricultural Complex
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is embarking on its largest single capital project in history, a $300 million, 1-million-square-foot agricultural complex named 'The Farm' along Highway 288. This new facility, which includes approximately 900,000 square feet of air-conditioned space, is designed to expand the Rodeo's footprint and support agricultural education and youth development. It will not replace the Rodeo's primary home at Reliant Park, where main livestock events and rodeo competitions will continue to be held. Instead, 'The Farm' will accommodate expanded competitions, equine events, and year-round programming. The name 'The Farm' stands for 'Furthering our Agriculture and Ranching Mission' and was chosen through a community-wide public vote. The facility is scheduled to open for the 2029 rodeo season, and Houston Mayor John Whitmire has pledged to expedite the permit process to ensure construction remains on schedule.
