Thai Ambassador Highlights Strengthening Thai-Israeli Relations Amid Diplomatic Visit
The Thai Ambassador to Israel, Boonyarit Vichienpuntu, recently led a delegation to Jerusalem's Tisch Family Zoological Gardens to celebrate 72 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Israel. The visit underscored the symbolic importance of Thai elephants, which were gifted to Israel in 1994, as a representation of the enduring friendship between the two nations. Vichienpuntu emphasized the growing cooperation between Thailand and Israel in various fields, including agriculture, science, and technology. Despite challenges such as the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, the ambassador expressed confidence in the economic resilience of Thailand and its main trading partners, the United States and China. The visit also highlighted the significant role of Thai workers in Israel, particularly following the suspension of work licenses for over 100,000 Palestinians after the October 7 attacks, which left a gap in the workforce that has been partially filled by Thai nationals.
