Pentagon Sanctions Alibaba, BYD, and Baidu for Alleged Military Ties
The Pentagon has added Alibaba, BYD, and Baidu to its list of Chinese military companies, a move that prevents these firms from securing U.S. defense contracts. This decision is part of a broader effort to identify Chinese companies that may be contributing to China's defense industrial base. The list, which has grown to 188 entities, includes companies that are not traditionally associated with the defense sector but are believed to be aiding China's military capabilities. The Chinese Embassy has condemned the list, accusing the U.S. of discriminatory practices. Alibaba and Baidu have denied any military affiliations, asserting that their inclusion is unfounded.
