Crossing Guard Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle in Orange Park, Florida
A crossing guard sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle near Grove Park Elementary School in Orange Park, Florida, on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at the intersection of Gano Avenue and Miller Street. According to the Orange Park Police Department, the crossing guard was stopping traffic on Miller Street when a vehicle, turning southbound from Gano Avenue onto Miller Street, hit her. At the time of the accident, the crossing guard was wearing a high-visibility traffic vest and holding a stop sign. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The injured crossing guard was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The Clay County District Schools released a statement expressing concern and confirming that their District Crisis Team, including counselors, has been deployed to Grove Park Elementary to support any students or staff affected by the incident.
