Five Individuals, Including Three USPS Mail Carriers, Indicted in Multi-Million Dollar Stolen Check Scheme in Houston
Five individuals, including three U.S. Postal Service mail carriers, have been federally indicted in Houston for their alleged involvement in a scheme to steal and resell checks totaling nearly $24 million. The indictment, filed on August 19 in the Southern District of Texas, accuses Tryston Tremaine Vaughn, Catherine Clauzelle Kilpatrick, Drakkor Jamar Alexander, Malcolm Tiree Joubert, and Alyssa Nadine Bryant of participating in this operation. According to federal prosecutors, Vaughn recruited USPS mail carriers to steal checks from their routes. Kilpatrick, Alexander, and Joubert are identified as the postal carriers involved, while Bryant is accused of collaborating with Vaughn to purchase these stolen checks from postal employees. The stolen checks were then allegedly posted for sale on a Telegram channel named “slipsandchips” and shipped to buyers via FedEx.
