Broad Fire in Weber Canyon Reaches 134 Acres, Firefighters Battle Hot Spots
The Broad Fire, located in Weber Canyon, has expanded to 134 acres and is currently 50% contained, according to Utah Fire Info. Fire officials reported that containment has been established on the south side of I-84 in Davis County, near the Weber River. The fire's south and west edges are showing minimal heat or movement, while hot spots persist along the eastern perimeter, exacerbated by increasing winds. The fire remains active on the north side, where it is slowly burning through underbrush and trees. Four crews are actively working on the fire, with air support assisting in cooling hot spots. Firefighters have not observed high fire activity or extreme flame lengths. Traffic on I-84 near the mouth of Weber Canyon remains reduced to one lane in each direction, and officials are urging drivers to slow down and be vigilant for firefighters and equipment, citing concerns about distracted motorists near aircraft operations.
