Senator Mark Kelly Faces Pentagon Investigation Over Comments on U.S. Weapon Stockpiles
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has called for an investigation into Senator Mark Kelly following his comments on U.S. weapon stockpiles during the ongoing conflict with Iran. Kelly, a member of the Senate Armed Services and Intelligence committees, expressed concerns on CBS's 'Face the Nation' about the depletion of U.S. munitions, including Tomahawks, ATACMS, and Patriot rounds. He stated that the depletion poses a risk to national security, especially in potential future conflicts. Hegseth accused Kelly of sharing information from a classified Pentagon briefing and questioned whether Kelly violated his oath. This marks the second time Hegseth has sought an investigation into Kelly, following a previous incident where Kelly was accused of urging U.S. service members to refuse illegal orders.
