Sungjoo Kim, President of the National Pension Service (NPS), has publicly addressed the ongoing debate surrounding retroactive pension contributions for foreigners in South Korea. On August 30, Kim posted a message on social media titled "Purpose, Issues, and Supplementary Measures of the NPS Additional Payment System." He acknowledged calls for certain restrictions on the additional payment system but firmly stated that foreigners' rights to make retroactive payments should not be discriminated against based on nationality.
