China Southern Airlines Celebrates 25 Years of Guangzhou-Sydney Route with Increased Flight Capacity
China Southern Airlines marked the 25th anniversary of its Guangzhou-Sydney route with a celebration event in Sydney. Since its inaugural flight on December 5, 2000, the airline has maintained uninterrupted operations on this route, which serves as a crucial air bridge between China and Australia. The event was attended by notable figures from the aviation, tourism, and business sectors, including Mr. Ye Wei, Counsellor-rank Consul for Economic and Commercial affairs of the Consulate-General of The People’s Republic of China in Sydney, and Mr. Greg Botham, Chief Aviation Officer of Sydney Airport. Over the years, the route has seen significant developments, including the introduction of the Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and an increase in flight frequency to meet growing demand. The airline plans to further increase its flight capacity, with four daily round trips scheduled from December 13, 2025, to February 24, 2026.
