ICE Dismantles SIM Farms in Nationwide Operation Targeting Telecommunications Fraud
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has conducted a nationwide operation, named Operation Signal Break, to dismantle 'SIM farms' used by transnational criminal organizations. These SIM farms, which consist of large numbers of SIM cards, are used to perpetrate telecommunications fraud, including phishing texts and scam calls. The operation, which took place between June 22 and July 10, involved specialized teams targeting operations in several states, including California, Florida, and Texas. The seized SIM data will be analyzed to identify victims and trace illicit proceeds linked to Chinese criminal networks.
