Thailand Government Announces Workforce Overhaul Amid Economic and Technological Challenges
On National Labour Day, Thailand's government announced a comprehensive overhaul of its workforce strategy to address economic pressures and technological disruptions. Deputy Prime Minister Yodchanan Wongsawat highlighted challenges such as Middle East conflicts, supply chain volatility, and internal transitions driven by AI and an aging population. The government plans to implement a unified national skills database to match employer demands with workforce capabilities, paired with international certifications. Additionally, a new initiative aims to upskill laborers for the digital economy, while expanding social safety nets for gig-economy workers.
