Kittery Water District Implements Mandatory Water Restrictions Due to Declining Supply
The Kittery Water District in Maine has enacted mandatory water restrictions, effective Monday, due to declining water supply levels and dry conditions. These indefinite restrictions apply to all customers within the district. Key measures include limiting lawn watering to two days a week, specifically between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Odd-numbered addresses are permitted to water on Mondays and Thursdays, while even-numbered addresses can do so on Tuesdays and Fridays, with no lawn watering allowed on weekends. The district is also urging residents to reduce all outdoor water use, operate appliances only with full loads, and promptly repair any leaks. Non-compliance will result in a written warning for a first offense, a $100 fine for a second, and a $500 fine for a third, which could also lead to water service termination.
