New Fish Species Named After Sesame Street's Mr. Snuffleupagus Discovered
A newly discovered fish species, Solenostomus snuffleupagus, has been named after the beloved Sesame Street character Mr. Snuffleupagus. Found in the Southwest Pacific, this 'Hairy Ghost Pipefish' is noted for its unique appearance, featuring flowing filaments and a long snout. The species, measuring 1 to 1.5 inches, is a relative of seahorses and exhibits remarkable camouflage, resembling floating red algae. The discovery, detailed in the Journal of Fish Biology, highlights the fish's evolutionary adaptations and its uncanny resemblance to the fuzzy character.
