Louvre Staff Vote to Strike Over Management and Maintenance Issues, Threatening Museum Operations
Staff at the Louvre Museum in Paris have voted in favor of strike action, set to begin on December 15, due to dissatisfaction with management and building maintenance. The decision was made by approximately 200 employees from three unions, who unanimously supported the strike. The unions have filed a strike notice with the French culture ministry, expressing their unwillingness to negotiate further with the museum's director, Laurence des Cars. The staff's grievances include insufficient staffing, technical failures, and the building's aging condition. This action follows a series of incidents, including the theft of the French crown jewels and the closure of the Campana Gallery due to structural issues.
