Henry McMaster Jr. Declines Lieutenant Governor Bid Amid South Carolina Primary
Henry McMaster Jr., son of South Carolina's current governor, has announced that he will not be running for the position of lieutenant governor alongside Pamela Evette. This decision comes despite speculation and a social media post from President Trump suggesting his potential candidacy. McMaster Jr. expressed gratitude for the support and encouragement he received but stated that it is not the right time for him to pursue public office. He has, however, endorsed Evette's campaign for governor, aligning with the support from his father and President Trump. The announcement comes as South Carolina prepares for its primary elections, where five Republican and three Democratic candidates are competing for the gubernatorial nomination.
