Storms Knock Out Power to 12,600+ Dominion Customers Across Virginia, Including 8,200 in Central Virginia
More than 12,600 Dominion Energy customers in Virginia experienced power outages following powerful storms that swept through the Commonwealth on Sunday night. As of 11:30 p.m., approximately 8,200 customers in Central Virginia were without electricity. The majority of these outages were concentrated in Chesterfield, Henrico, and Richmond. Specifically, Chesterfield reported 6,576 outages, Henrico 501, and Richmond City 880. Smaller numbers were reported in Hanover (65), Hopewell (167), New Kent (13), and Powhatan (69). A Flash Flood Warning was also in effect for the City of Richmond and parts of Henrico, Chesterfield, and Powhatan counties until midnight, and for the Tri-Cities area until 1 a.m. Locally heavy rain continued in affected areas, with more scattered storms anticipated overnight, bringing warm and muggy conditions with lows in the low 70s.
