President Trump to Attend Prayer Gathering Criticized for Christian Nationalism Narrative
President Donald Trump, along with several top administration officials, is set to participate in a prayer gathering on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., organized by the nonprofit Freedom 250. The event, titled 'Rededicate 250,' is intended to mark America's 250th birthday with a 'rededication of our country as One Nation Under God.' Critics, however, argue that the event promotes a Christian nationalist narrative, which they claim threatens the constitutional separation of church and state. The gathering will feature worship music, prayers, and speeches from various Republican officials and religious leaders, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The event has drawn criticism from Congressional Democrats who question its structure and finances, viewing it as a Trump-controlled initiative that bypasses a separate commission established by Congress for semiquincentennial events.
