Brown Sugar Bakery Faces Third Break-In, Community Rallies for Support
Brown Sugar Bakery, a well-known establishment in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, was targeted in an early-morning break-in. According to Chicago police, multiple offenders shattered the bakery's front glass window, stole the cash register, and fled in a white vehicle. This incident marks the third time the bakery has been targeted in recent years. The break-in also affected a neighboring business, Stylez Caribbean Snack Shop, although nothing was stolen from there. Stephanie Hart, the owner of Brown Sugar Bakery, expressed gratitude to the community and police for their swift response and support. A community gathering is planned at Soul Veg City to address the rising number of break-ins in the Greater Grand Crossing area. Despite these challenges, Hart emphasized the resilience of Black businesses on East 75th Street.
