Nithya Raman Surges Ahead of Spencer Pratt in Tight L.A. Mayoral Race
In the Los Angeles mayoral race, City Council Member Nithya Raman has overtaken former reality TV star Spencer Pratt for the second spot in the upcoming runoff election. The race, which follows the nonpartisan June 2 primary, initially saw Pratt leading Raman by 8.1 percentage points. However, as mail-in ballots were counted, Raman, a progressive Democrat and member of the Democratic Socialists of America, gained a narrow lead of over 3,000 votes. The current standings show Mayor Karen Bass in first place with 34.68% of the vote, followed by Raman with 27.12%, and Pratt with 26.69%. The election remains too close to call with approximately 150,000 ballots yet to be processed. Prominent Republicans, including President Trump, have questioned the integrity of the vote count, alleging without evidence that the results were manipulated.
