Super El Niño Ahead? What It Means for US Weather
A developing El Niño could strengthen into a rare “Super El Niño” by late 2026, with early impacts beginning as soon as June and building through summer. Conditions may shift from July to September, bringing wetter weather to the Midwest and parts of the West, while drier spells affect the Gulf Coast and East. By late fall into winter (November–January), stronger storm tracks could bring heavy rain across the southern U.S. and East Coast. If it intensifies further, global heat impacts may peak in 2027, influencing weather, agriculture and daily life worldwide.
