Later the same day, Hunter Combs, a 12-year-old sixth-grade student at Dunbar Middle School, was fatally struck by a car while attempting to cross MacCorkle Avenue with another child. South Charleston Police are investigating both incidents. Richmond Elementary has expressed profound sadness over Ross's passing, highlighting her warmth and kindness. Counseling services have been made available at both Richmond Elementary and Dunbar Middle School to support students and staff affected by these losses.
