Cohutta Mayor Fires Entire Police Department Over Social Media Dispute
In Cohutta, Georgia, Mayor Ron Shinnick has dismissed the entire local police department, including the chief and about ten officers, following a social media dispute involving complaints about the mayor's wife, Pam Shinnick, who served as the town clerk. The decision has left the town, which is located just south of the Tennessee state line, without a local police force. The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office is currently providing law enforcement assistance. The town council has scheduled a special meeting to discuss the potential reinstatement of the police department and the possibility of the mayor's resignation.
