Maine Ski Resorts Boost Mountain Biking Scene with New Trails and Amenities
Maine's ski resorts are increasingly investing in mountain biking infrastructure, transforming the state into a burgeoning destination for the sport. Sugarloaf, Mt. Abram, and Saddleback are leading this development by adding lift-served bike parks and trails. Adam Craig, a professional mountain biker, and Spencer Lee, Sugarloaf's lead trail crew supervisor, are pivotal in these efforts. The state now boasts nearly 600 miles of mountain bike trails, with significant networks in Carrabassett Valley, Bethel, and Greenville. This growth is driven by the desire to extend the utility of ski resorts into year-round operations, providing economic benefits and maintaining employment during off-seasons.
