US, Ukraine, and Russia Engage in Trilateral Talks Amid Ongoing Conflict
The United States, Ukraine, and Russia recently concluded a second round of trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, aimed at achieving peace in the ongoing Ukraine conflict. The discussions, held on February 4-5, 2026, followed a severe Russian airstrike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which left many Ukrainians without heat during harsh winter conditions. The US delegation included Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll, and General Alexus Grynkewich. Ukrainian representatives were led by Rustem Umerov, while the Russian delegation included Igor Kostyukov and Kirill Dmitriev. Despite the talks, the conflict continues with significant casualties on both sides. A notable outcome was a prisoner exchange, the first in six months, involving 157 prisoners from each side.
