Flash Floods, Tornadoes, and Heat Dome Impact Millions Across the U.S.
Severe weather conditions have gripped the northeastern United States, with torrential rain, high winds, and tornado warnings causing widespread disruption. Flash flooding has led to high-water rescues in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York, with up to 12 inches (30 cm) of rain expected in some areas, including western Connecticut and Massachusetts. Power outages have affected tens of thousands, and hundreds of flights have been canceled. Meanwhile, a deadly heat dome continues to impact the southern U.S., with extreme heat warnings in place and heat indices reaching up to 115°F (46°C) in Texas and Oklahoma. In the southwest, temperatures could climb to 120°F (49°C), increasing wildfire risks. Additionally, a tornado in Wisconsin was upgraded to an EF3, with winds of 145 mph (233 km/h), injuring 68 people and causing significant damage.
