Smartraveller, a government travel advisory service, has updated its security ratings for several Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, and Oman. The advisory now suggests reconsidering travel to Saudi Arabia due to recent military strikes and reprisal attacks in the region, including incidents at Abha International Airport. While the security ratings for key transit hubs like Qatar and Dubai remain unchanged, the travel industry is closely monitoring potential updates that could impact travel insurance and transit options for Australians. The advisory follows a previous downgrade in travel warnings for Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE, which had been eased due to a temporary reduction in hostilities.
