Hoover Homeowner Seeks Answers as Exit 9 Project Moves Forward Amid Property Dispute
In Hoover, Alabama, the Exit 9 project on Interstate 459 is advancing with an additional $16 million in federal funding. However, homeowner James Robertson is contesting the acquisition of his property, which he has owned since 1969. Robertson and his family have expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) regarding the necessity of using their land. Despite negotiations, the family feels undervalued by the initial compensation offer. The project aims to improve traffic flow for 70,000 vehicles daily, but Robertson's property remains the last needed for construction to proceed.
