Initial reports suggested a stadium wall collapse, but this was denied by both the police and the club. The deceased fan was identified as Freddy Rony Cornetero Cueva. Despite the incident, the Peruvian professional soccer league announced that the scheduled match would proceed, emphasizing their commitment to safety.
