Twelve Nations Condemn Israel's Appointment of Envoy to Somaliland, Citing Sovereignty Concerns
Twelve countries, including Pakistan, have issued a joint statement condemning Israel's decision to appoint a diplomatic representative to Somaliland, a breakaway region of Somalia. The statement, shared by the Foreign Office, was signed by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Bangladesh, Algeria, Palestine, Türkiye, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Kuwait. The ministers described Israel's action as a violation of Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. They emphasized their support for Somalia's unity and legitimate state institutions, warning that such actions could destabilize the Horn of Africa. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also condemned the move, reaffirming support for Somalia's recognized government.
