Minnesota Department of Agriculture Promotes Mental Health Resources for Farmers Amid Rising Stress
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is actively encouraging farmers to utilize available mental health resources as stress levels rise due to market challenges, low crop prices, and increasing costs of diesel and fertilizer. The department, along with various organizations, is working to raise awareness about the mental health services available to farmers. These services include free counseling sessions provided by three licensed counselors who specialize in agricultural mental health. The initiative aims to address issues such as depression, anxiety, and relationship problems among farmers. Additionally, the Minnesota Farm Advocates have been instrumental in assisting farmers with financial issues, having spent over 6,000 hours helping them navigate financial challenges last year.
