150-Year-Old Book Returned to Australian Library After Being Found in Fireplace
A book titled 'Antiquities of Athens' has been returned to the Kiama Library in Australia, 150 years after it was borrowed. The book was discovered by Ross Simmons during home renovations, bricked into a sealed fireplace. The library manager, Michelle Hudson, expressed surprise at the book's return, noting its historical significance. The book, part of the library's original collection, will now be displayed in the local history section. The overdue fine, calculated with inflation, would amount to approximately $19,500, but the library has no records of the original borrower.
