Timor-Leste Launches First International Subsea Cable, Enhancing Connectivity
Timor-Leste has commercially launched the Timor-Leste South Submarine Cable System (TLSCC), marking the country's first international subsea connection. The cable, running 607 km from Dili to Australia's North West Cable System, has a design capacity of 27 Tbps. This development is a significant milestone for Timor-Leste, which previously relied on satellite and microwave radio for international connectivity. The TLSCC, constructed by Alcatel Submarine Networks, is expected to enhance internet access and connectivity for government, businesses, and citizens.
